Edward C. Purcell-Founding Partner
Edward
Purcell founded the firm of Purcell & Wardrope in 1968. He
is a graduate of Loyola University and John Marshall Law School.
He is admitted to the state courts of Illinois and the United
States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar
Association and the Defense Research Institute.

Bradford S. Purcell-Partner
Brad Purcell is a 1984 graduate, summa cum laude, of
Valparaiso University and a 1987 graduate of the University of
Notre Dame law school. Brad specializes in defending individuals
and entities involved in civil litigation relating to toxic torts,
premises liability, motor vehicle collisions (especially those
involving commercial vehicles), construction accidents (especially
those involving scaffolds or structural members), and products
liability. He has achieved successful verdicts for clients in
Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. Brad has lectured across the country
on the topics of premises liability, construction litigation and
settlement strategies, and has authored the following publications:
Handling Premises Liability Claims Regardless of Jurisdiction,
Liability Insurance Research Bureau, 1995, and The Science
of Settlement, Liability Insurance Research Bureau, 1996.
He was a contributing author to Liability Claim Practices,
§ 8.34-8.38 (Insurance Institute of America 2001. He has
been featured in Claims, regarding premises liability
law in May 1994 and on CBS Good Morning with respect
to the effectiveness of surveillance in litigation.

Thomas B. Underwood-Partner
Tom
Underwood is a 1978 graduate of the University of Illinois College
of Law. His practice is currently concentrated on insurance coverage
matters and the defense of professional liability claims. He has
tried over 25 major lawsuits throughout the United States. He
has an AV rating in Martindale-Hubbell. He is admitted to the
state courts of Illinois, the United States District Courts for
the Central and Northern Districts, and the United States Court
of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He is also a member of the
trial bar of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District
of Illinois. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association
and a member of its Civil Procedure, Tort and Insurance sections.
He has presented numerous in-house seminars for insurance carriers
and has lectured at the Property Loss Research Bureau Claims Conferences.

James M. Dower-Partner
James
Dower is a graduate of the University of Iowa and the University
of Iowa College of Law. He has been admitted to practice in Iowa
and Illinois. He clerked for Chief U.S. District Judge Edward
McManus of the Northern District of Iowa. Jim has been a litigator
in Illinois since 1978. His practice is currently concentrated
on the defense of construction, dramshop, consumer fraud, transportation,
premises and product liability cases. He has tried over 30 major
lawsuits. Jim is admitted to the state courts of Illinois and
the United States District Courts for the Central and Northern
Districts. He is also a member of the trial bars of the U.S. District
Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Central District
of Illinois. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association.
Jim has presented in-house seminars for insurance carriers and
clients on employer tort liability, construction liability and
dramshop liability. He represents respondents and is also an arbitrator
in UM/UIM matters.

Jonathan P. Schaefer-Partner
Jon
Schaefer received his law degree in 1982 from DePaul University.
In addition to being licensed by the State of Illinois, Jon is
also admitted to the United States District Courts for the Northern
(Trial Bar), Central and Southern Districts of Illinois, the Eastern
District of Michigan and the District of Colorado, as well as
the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Jon currently concentrates
his practice principally on the defense of casualty losses (negligence,
transportation, products liability, medical malpractice, etc.),
and has tried cases in both the state court and the United States
District Court. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association
and the Defense Research Institute.

Mike
Sanders is a 1995 graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology,
Chicago-Kent College of Law. His practice currently is concentrated
on insurance coverage matters and the defense of professional
liability claims. He is admitted to the state courts of Illinois,
the United States District Courts for the Central and Northern
Districts, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the
Seventh Circuit.

Ami L. DeMarco-Senior Associate
Ami
Demarco is a 1997 graduate of DePaul University and a 2000
graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago Kent
College of Law. Ami's practice is concentrated
on the defense of professional liability claims, as well as
construction and premises liability. She also has
significant experience in health care litigation, particularly
in defending nursing homes, and has second chaired several
nursing home cases to verdict. She is admitted to the
state court of Illinois as well as the United States District
Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Ami was a
panel speaker at a Nursing Home Symposium at the Chicago Bar
Association. She is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and
the Illinois State Bar Association.

Mark J. Mickiewicz-Senior Associate
Mark Mickiewicz graduated, cum laude, from the University
of Illinois College of Law in 2003. At
Illinois, he was named to the Dean’s List, took second place in the
Saul Lefkowitz Regional Moot Court Competition, and received the Joseph
Rickert Award for excellence in oral advocacy. While working at the Office
of the Illinois Appellate Defender, Mark filed and argued numerous appeals
and collateral petitions in the Appellate Court for the First District of
Illinois and the Illinois Supreme Court. Mark also has significant
experience defending individuals and corporations from civil actions based
on personal injuries. Mark currently focuses his practice on the defense of
automobile matters and premises
liability actions and insurance coverage matters.

E. Simms is a 2000 graduate of the IIT Chicago-Kent College of
Law and received a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from
Eastern Illinois University. Her practice is currently concentrated
on the defense of professional liability, construction, premises,
and product liability. She is admitted to the state court of Illinois
and the United States District Court for the North District of
Illinois. She is also licensed in the State of Illinois as a Clinical
Professional Counselor. She authored the article The Open
and Obvious Doctrine and Landowner Liability: The Rule and the
Exceptions appearing in the Illinois State Bar Journal.

Kathryn
Feagans is a 2005 graduate of The John Marshall Law School. Her practice
currently is concentrated on insurance coverage matters, construction
accidents and the defense of professional liability claims. While working
for a professional liability insurer, she managed cases in ten states across
the nation and is a licensed adjuster in Texas and Florida. She is admitted
to the state courts of Illinois and the United States District Court for the
Northern District of Illinois. She is a member of the Chicago Bar
